Hi Rolf
No problem at all.
Welcome to join our FB group "Svenska Flerskrovsvänner" mostly in Swedish but growing more and more international and with many Dragonfly sailor-members. Possibly you can pick up tips and inspiration and no problem at all to ask or post in English.
Cheers!

Hi Rolf, That's correct no boom vang since it's rarely needed. In such a fast tri you never go deep downwind and the speed bends the apparent wind forward. A good setting could be on max upwind you put the traveler in the middle and take home the sheet hard. When turning to reaching you always start...

Hi Rolf, I have the same furler and it's quite clever. In your jib luff there should be a thin release line for the quick release. Attach this to the thin cable attached to the hook in the top part. Then you attach your gennaker halyard to a open hook and this to the schackel at the top part's outsi...

Gransegel has of course all kinds of cloth for all purposes. It’s critical to communicate to your sailmaker how you use your boat and what your expectations/preferences are. The goal is to identify the right balance between performance and durability which is individual to all sailors/boats/circumst...

Investigated it further and its empty. I suspect it's supposed to be used for a holding tank. Since the boat never had any installed and that I threw out the toilet immediately the hose is a gonner too. Shaving 2 kgs off the scale :-) I'm installing a lower point in the stem for the waterstay to the...

New sails for Dragonfly 800
Hi Dirk, I can recommend you to give Gransegel here in Stockholm a call. They are market leaders here and specialists with more than 25 years’ experience in trimaran and Dragonfly sails. They know every Dragonfly model and mast profile by heart. Not the cheapest but certainly best value for money if...

Heavy hose?
Hi,
From the stern and following the keel there's a heavy duty hose with woven cover laying below the floor in the center hull of my boat. It seems to be originally installed by the yard - does anyone know what it is/for what purpose it's there?

My guess is that if you lift a DF in the bow (centre hull) it'll be top heavy and turn mast down. I Think best way with a crane available is: 1. Lift the boat from centre bow to release the mast top from the bottom. 2. Separate and save the rig from the boat first. 3. Fold one ama and pull/roll the ...

I agree with Anders, I'm always crash jibing and have never broken any battens (round carbon rod) or anything else. Never let the main out to more than barely touching the side stays. I guess if you let the battens bend over the sidestay they may break when crash jibing. Remember always try to jibe ...

Support the boat on props (?) and pull out the trailer. These are good since you can lift the boat higher with them and get all of the cb out and also easier to get the trailer back in place again. http://www.seaquip.se/sortiment/mb-stottor/mb2/

They have put it in port berth to get enough floor space for one foot. In a pic with Jen Q and one other guy they can't sit normally opposite to each other. It's a narrow boat! https://www.baadnyt.dk/nyheder/trimaran-video-interview

Hi Good tricks to save on these expensive lines - starting with buying it 2-3 meters too long - are: 1 When you notice substantial wear at the clutch (should take 1-3 seasons using Double Horizons tip to take off the load before releasing) you can swap ends of the halyard to get a new part of the li...

Hi, I'm sailing a DF800R with a non furling gennaker on what I think is an original part bow sprit from Quorning (check with their after sales or your local rep). Mast rotation?
Hi,
I'm wondering how much to rotate the mast. For me it's both a security (the long unsupported top on the 800R mast bends a lot with wrong mast angle) and a performance issue. Does anyone know?

Removing stripes?
I'd like to remove the red original stripe/tape on the side of the mast (aluminium). It's been there since launch 1995 so a bit hard to remove. Anyone out there got a tip on how it's best/easiest done?

When reefing with the furler the area is reduced but the sail profile normally get deeper - the opposite of what you want in strong wind - so for upwind sailing you can only reef a couple of turns keeping an ok profile and also a large genua is made of thinner cloth than a hard wind jib. My freinds ...

The original set-up you describe is good but in light wind you love an X-large gennaker. Upwind in light wind you can hopefully use the Code 0 with the right design and that you have good halyards. In really strong wind it's great to have a smaller jib to match a fully reefed main for balance. I've ...

Of course there's loads in the forestay but not necessarily higher than on a monohull. Every load has an antagonist holding it in place which on a tri is a without a lead keel on a momentum arm hence smaller righting moment fore/aft. Where the balance is is individual to every construction. My obser...

I disagree, a stay in line with the mast/boat center doesn't support much sideway load. Also most gear on cruising boats are substancially oversized. If you want to be super safe - oversize everything. If you like to race/go fast with a light boat check what gear other boats of the same model are us...

Hi Dirk, Sounds strange to use the reef. You'd have to remove the reef line from the leech to avoid having cunningham at the back as well and normally the first reef is too high to work well as cunningham trim. If you have a ring or eye low in your main luff for cunningham, can be added to used sail...

No wire or torsion line in the luff. For a gennaker it should be separate from the sail. Otherwise it's no gennaker shape. Normally a gennaker for furling are a bit more flat than a non-furling for easier furling but with the Facnor trick you can furl also a deeper sail without problem. On my DF800R...

No problem furling an assy. What you need is an anti-torsion line to furl around either with a top-down furler like this from Selden: http://www.benns.se/gennakerfurler-gx15-p-21431-c-110.aspx or with a bottom-up furler with an intermediate furling line to middle of luff like on this film on Facnor ...
