Replacing the 2:1 halyard with 1:1

Just wondering whether anyone has considered this. Advantages might be: - less weight aloft (removes the block at the sail head) - shorter halyard (mine needs replacing) - quicker hoisting (feels like the electric winch could handle it) - less excess halyard in the cockpit I guess the Easylock clutc...

I replaced my upper swivel at 10 years with another Facnor unit. If you want to change the brand, you’ll need to replace the lower unit and the foil, remove the forestay etc.....

Instrument removal

My DF 35 has 3 Raymarine instruments installed in the usual place - instrument "garage" across the top of the hatch. The Raymarine manual implies they must be attached and detached using access from behind them. However, that isn't possible without removing (cutting away) the whole section...

Re: Ama Hatch Seals

Thanks Steve. Was it your experience that these were the cause of water ingress?

Leaking Ama Top Hatches

My DF 35 was tending to take on a few buckets of water in the amas under heavy weather. I believe this to be via the top hatches. I replaced the ama seals with originals from Houdini Hatches and also tightened the hatch levers. This has helped, but it doesn't take much for one of the levers not to b...

Standing rigging replacement

My standing rigging is coming up 10 years old and I'm planning to replace it. Does anyone have the rig tensions they could share? Also, I have been told that Quorning will supply the replacement items ready made to length. Has anyone tried going down that route, or did you just use your local rigger?

Sudden failure. The plastic either side of the smaller sheave broke off. I'm told by Q they use Selden now.

Boom vang/preverter block failure

I was sailing along with the boom vang/preventer on last weekend. All of a sudden, the Ronstan block failed. There were no unusual circumstances and winds were relatively light. No harm was done, but just wondering whether others have suffered this experience. If so, have you replaced like-with-like...

DF35 Centreboard Downhaul

My dyneema centreboard downhaul line came off yesterday. It wasn't broken, just came clean away. I've taken off the table top to reveal the housing. By pushing down the centreboard by 20-30 degrees I can see a hole in the edge of the centreboard. However, other than that, I'm unable to work out how ...
