Check List contra Human Error
When I got my first DF920 I made myself a check list of all the things I should be doing before and after leaving port. A system not dissimilar to a pilot's check list which every pilot must use before takeoff. It started with: - Disconnect shore power cable - Shut all port holes etc and finished (i...

DF35 Capsize - Human Error
A few days ago a DF35 had an accident in Denmark due apparently to a human error. I've received today the following email from Jens Quorning: Dear Bo, I do now know, whether you have heard of this incident, but we want to inform the sailing public about the truth of this incident, which was a human ...

DF28 trailability
Maybe it will be the same "trailability" as the DF920. I think the whole design might be a modified version of the DF920. If you chop off the "bathing platform" of the 920 you might get down to 28'. Another thought: I've seen many boat numbers which diviated a lot from ...

Controlling the DF920 at strong winds
As with most boats, to go slowly at strong winds is very difficult if you want to keep good control over the boat. Very often a little extra speed gives better control, specially if you have to turn and suddenly have the wind beam on. I have had once a similar problem with aft winds (Mistral) and sa...

Nice selection of DF920 for sale
There seems to be a nice selection of 2nd hand DF920 for sale at the moment, including two Extremes.
This might be the be the right moment to take a buying decision if you're thinking about getting a DF920.

Control under motor power
I can only tell from the 920 but the first thing I did when I got mine was to do a lot of practice with the engine outside the harbour in calm conditions. I have had some protective strips swan onto the sails in those places where the buttons chaffed against the shrouds. I would think 40kg is plenty enough. The general recommendation is to load as little weight as possible into the amas. Store only light items like fenders, spinnaker, sailcover etc. in the amas. Just measure the thickness and use/buy the same or bigger wall thickness. I would think it's 2.5 or 3mm. The aluminium will certainly be the same marine quality.
