Do NOT sail a DF920 from USA to Europe

Post by Bo Wetzel »

The DF920 has NOT been design (nor is it certified!) for crossing the Atlantic!
Do not attempt this but chose a saver way of transport i.e. in a container!
As these boats are shipped in a container to the USA it is only logical to use the same mode of transport in the other direction.
If you want to import it from the USA to Germany (and if you're German) and no European VAT (MwSt) has been paid yet (you will need the original invoices) speak to your local Finanzamt about a temporary Umsatzsteuernummer for the payment of the MwSt for the Boat when you import it to Europe.
You will have to pay the VAT (MwST) on the value agreed by the Finanzamt (not necessary the same as the price you have paid). So speak to them beforehand! Get them to agree on the tax you have to pay before you import the boat.

Yes, however the shore power will be different (120v 60hz AC). That should be easy to change in a 920. In my 2001 model Quorning used the European standard exterior plugs for shore power, but only the internal outlets and charger were different.
