Ant attack

Post by Christian »

This summer out in the archipelago of Stocholm – Stora Nassa – we made a regular sideways mooring ( one ama on the rock). Put our sink-fenders under the ama, and started to enjoy the summer. But suddenly we found a lot of ants on board! The small black ones – the ones that don’t bite. After a while we started to look for the source – and found an ant road from a crack in the rock onto the rope of the sink-fender, up on the ama, over the beam, into the main hull. We tried to make sure the sink-fender was submerged in water. That stopped them for a while. But as soon the fender was up in the air; they where back. The only right thing to do was to leave the rock. It took us three days to kill all ants!

Has anyone had the same problem?
