wind instrument for rotating rig
wind instrument for rotating rig
Looking for a wind instrument. Preferably with both force and direction(s).
Are there any wind systems that can compensate for mast rotation other than tacktick?

Rotating mast wind instruments
There are a couple of manufactures making this sensor. Tacktik makes one, here is the link http://www.tacktick.com/products/produc ... sp?prod=82. They say they are not available yet.
Nexus had one out a couple of years ago also, see this link; http://www.silva.se/marine/
Be prepared, they are pricey!

Airmar PB200 is one possibility to solve this problem. There are several instruments packed into this weather station.Nille wrote:Looking for a wind instrument. Preferably with both force and direction(s).

The price is about 1000 USD.
One problem with it is the need to calculate somewhere (external PC or something else?) mast rotating angle out of magnetic compass heading and GPS heading. The format of data is NMEA2000 or NMEA183.
For some reason Airmar technical customer service did not recommend PB200 for sailing boats, but they did not answer the question WHY.
