DF Electricals

Post by penryj »

My DF35 is a European spec boat with 220V shorepower. I have just moved with boat (and family!) to the US and was wondering whether I need to make any adjustments. I noticed that some marinas provide 220V shorepower outlets - I assume they run their own step-up transformers. However, someone mentioned to me that my system will be 50Hz frequency while the US runs on 60HZ (this is independent of voltage). Will this difference of 10HZ be significant. Or do I have a 50/60 dual system?

This is an interesting question.

I did a web search and came up with a thread that contains useful information. There is a lot of other information out there.

Actually spoke to Nicolai - he says the battery charger will cope with 230V - 45-66Hz. so I should be OK.
