Centreboard Clam Cleat

Post by Mal »

Might be RWO's auto-release. Check dimensions.

Centreboard clam cleat

Post by Diana »

Hello
We replaced our clam cleat last summer and it was a very simple job. We bought a fitting as shown at this link http://www.clamcleat.com/cleats/cleat_d ... ?theid2=74

We unscrewed the blunt clam cleat which no longer gripped the rope and reinstalled the new fitting.
The tripping action is formed by the base plate which houses the clamcleat itself. You can set the strength of the trip action by adjusting the setscrew on the ball bearing. We did take the whole mechanism off the deck to clean it, although this wasn't strictly necessary as the two parts are separate. The housing mechanism did not have a makers name on it and it might be made by Quorning themselves as it is quite simple and easily fabricated.
Hope that helps.
