cunninham and reefing

Post by achatugi »

I am the owner of an Dragonfly SW 800 (209). Can anybody explain , how to use the reefing System as a Cunningham too. I didnt understand the Explanation in the Manual quite well.
Is only reef 1 used as an Cunningham ?
But by doing so , than I am pulling down the back side of the main sail as well
Thank you in advance ...

Hi Dirk,
Sounds strange to use the reef. You'd have to remove the reef line from the leech to avoid having cunningham at the back as well and normally the first reef is too high to work well as cunningham trim. If you have a ring or eye low in your main luff for cunningham, can be added to used sails by your sail maker, you can use a separate tackle with a reef hook to attach in the ring/eye.
