Top stay fittings

Post by Stefan Kolmodin »

I bought 800 #257 last summer and found cracks in the mast alumimium profile by the top stay fittings in the mast. I will fix it with new fittings inside the profile and repair of the cracks.

Advice other owners to carefully check this on your boats, before it's beyond repair or worst case mast is coming down.

Fixed it with new internal fittings and new aluminium plates on the outside of the mast - stronger than new, but I was very close to loosing the rig if I hadn't seen the cracks.
