Dragonfly video links

Post by David Hyland »

Got any decent video clips of your Dragonfly in action? If they are published to a website, why not share the link with the forum?

Here's one of 'Zoum!', a 920 Racing under spinnaker in Christchurch Bay - GPS track had 17.1 kts OTG at one point.

RSYC Island Double 2008 - video diary

Post by David Hyland »

This is the fifth race in the popular double-handed series run by the Royal Southampton Yacht Club. All eight races are open to non-members are made up of a mix of in-shore and off-shore courses to suit all tastes.

The 'round the island' race attracted over 130 entrants across five classes, including 9 multihulls, two of them Dragonflys.

Scooby III (DF800) took first place with Zoum! (DF920) fourth...... see the action:

Dragonfly video / sea-me

Post by Ipe Piccardt Brouwer »

Great footage, David!

I notice that you have a sea-me active radar reflector mounted on the stern pushpit.

Is that a satisfactory arangement?

regarding radar reflector. We inherited this when we bought the boat walker this year. I've been told that the active reflector is the best of it's type though for best effects it should really be mast mounted. Unfortunately, I've not been able to test it's effectiveness in it's current position. Maybe other members may wish to comment.

I suspect this will be irrelevant in the near future as I'll be more interested in fitting an AIS package in the near future which will have a masthead antenna.

Another sailing video

Post by Chris R »

This may not be the most exciting from a sailing point of view - but was certainly one of the most memorable times I've had sailing - happened sailing from Dartmouth to Poole on 13th August this year
