Does anyone have any experience or views on the Barton Boomstrut (http://www.bartonmarine.com/products-boomstrut.asp), and whether they might work on Dragonflies?
The topping lift/lazyjacks work okay, but I find that because they are taking the weight of the boom and sail they go tight just when you want them to be slack to allow the mainsail to flake smoothly. I thought the boomstrut could provide a good alternative.
Thanks, John.

I installed a Boomkicker

Works great. I installed one in 2001.
I use the preventers on the end of the boom with the mainsheet as a vang.
The company was very helpful in getting everything just right.
