Remounting of cleat lock

Post by Christian »

Starboards cleat lock got pulled of by a gust, sailing upwind in 8 m/s! It disappeared with screws and all.

How to mount a new one? Use larger screws (what was original size?) Longer screws? Fill holes with epoxy before mounting?

Any ideas?

Mine also did this - quite dangerous at the time as I remember - Replaced with bolts, domehead nuts & a backing plate (washers) a bit of sikaflex for good measure.

Which model was this? I can't identify it from the picture.

I agree with Choppy -- it should be bolted not screwed.

DF920

It's a DF920 so the problem is to reach the backside. Maybe the instruments can be removed to gain access. Have a feeling that those instruments are factory mounted.
