VDO water tank level sensor

Post by EarthBM »

After the tank was empty for a few weeks, the sensor is sending readings al over the place, including twice the tank capacity (eg 200+ liters).

Does anyone know how to reset/recalibrate it?

VDO's US support can be reached at 800-265-1818 Http://usa.vdo.com

I have the documentation and I'm sorry to say it won't help you. The way the unit is adjusted is to physically change the pivot point of the float arm at the sender. The pivot must be positioned equal to the water level at half-full. It is a physical adjustment.

There is no adjustment at the rear of the panel or the sender electronics.

Since you said it's dry I think the symptoms indicate you have a defective sender. If you had water in the tank that was sloshing around I would think perhaps the sender height adjustment screws came loose and the pivot point is moving.

Defender marine carries these at a little over $100 for the sender.
