Polars
Penry, If Nicolai told you they don't have any updated polars then that is probably correct. So...as a rough guesstimate I would recommend multiplying the numbers given between 8-18knots of true wind speed by about 5/6 in a stripped boat, maybe 2/3 (0.66) in a boat equipped for cruising. This is jus...

Penyrj and Mario,
You might want to check with Jens about revised 'updated' Polars. I believe the original ones posted were a bit ambitious. I think Jens probably has updated and more accurate Polars than those posted originally.

Mario, I suspect that most of us that received the plastic mast car tracks have now had personal experience with them cracking. I am now changing out my second one from plastic to aluminum with delron bearings. I suspect that the track and cars are not properly rated for the loads incurred by our la...

US Virgin Islands Single Handing Perspective (DF35-6): No problems in light to medium air. Autohelm is essential for me to single-hand -- I have had to single hand once with autopilot not working in very heavy air and it was a handful and probably quite humorous for anyone watching me try to bring i...

Water in the Engine Room
One other point worth considering...
When sailing in heavy (3-5m) following seas saltwater can enter through the rudder uphaul tube. If this is a problem for you, it is very easy to make a fitting for the top of the tube to minimize this issue.

Water in the Engine Room
I have not found any leaking in heavy rains or washing the boat, including around the latches. However, the hot water SS tank will blow off water into the starboard side engine bilge area when running the engine with the water system pressurized. I would love a fix for this but have accepted this to...
