Nice Tri Dfly 1000 hull # 1 - beware if you find it for sale
It comes with great regret to inform you all that my boat Nice Tri was a victim of Hurricane Sandy - Not to be sad, that was over in October and since the boat is now officially the insurance companies. You may see the boat on the salvage market shortly. Beware, that there is so much hidden damage o...

Did you measure the tension on the rig with a Loos gauge? I would start there- see what the tension on the rig and backstays on the starboard side. Seems that side is sailing better than port. Then measure the port side - adjust accordingly to match the starboard readings. If you balance the rig acc...

The way I have them setup on boat is they are equally tight - there is no slack at any time except when the boat is folded. You should also have some sort of turnbuckle on them. Give a couple of turns to snug them up. Get yourself a Loose Gauge to see what the load is on the cables and balance accor...

One bolt, not two - needs to be able to kick-up if needed. If there was a second added - remove it! Don't overly tighten as this will pinch the top of the rudder and prevent it from kicking up. As or the wiggle - sounds like the steering cable below is stretched a bit. Open the aft access hatch, cra...

Did you consider sailing it North? Or having someone deliver it? May be way cheaper. If you do move the boat over the road - you really should use the shipping cradle. Boat is pretty easy to take apart - about 1/2 day each. Still may need a second trailer to take the ammas. They do not flip under th...

Ken; Does not sound like a hard project. For access look for a spot where the recessed furler sits below deck. You can cut in an inspection port there to gain access to that part of the bow. Then it is a matter of measuring and placing some sort of wooden wedge mounted into the bow so you can use a ...

Ice Box Retro Fit
Has anyone replaced their fridge with an ice box? I am seriously thinking about ditching the fridge and building an icebox with a cold plate in it's place. All the monohulls I race on use this method and I think it is pretty efficient. Throw some ice in to chill the beverages, turn on the cold plate...
Back in my younger days (1980's) I used to race a Hobie 21 Catamaran. At the time it was one of the fastest production beach cats built (actually there was a Pro-sail circuit for the boat with the 40 footers). Well the boat had a nasty problem that the only time it would flip was when the wind got u...

The mooring lines never tangled and there was never any chafe on the lines.
If you are on an exposed mooring, this is a must. Great product.
