Project anyone?
My DF 25 (PC Mould made) is 85% restored, the hard work is done, and save some consumables I have all the parts and pieces to finish the job. I am missing one thing......time. It's just not happening. We're on family vacation with the camper through the middle of August, work is piling up around it,...

Hoi Cannot give you a specific answer to your question as to models, but can give you some technical background. I have done a LOT of trailering over the years: boats, campers, cargo trailers. First, look at the maximum weight capacity of the vehicle.....then do NOT exceed 80% of that, and personall...

I'm still here...... And so is the boat. Life is what happens when you have plans they say. I was able to rough in a nice solid base for the mast foot and then winter happened. The boat was under roof all winter and is bone dry, albeit a little dusty. Now I am trying to find time again.... the house...

I think like all DF's, LK IV has a rotating mast. There's a big ass pin with a rounded tip that comes out of the bottom of the mast which rides in a SS mast foot...... http://www.woodenshoemusic.com/PicPages/Linkto_files/IMG_0086_2.jpg http://www.woodenshoemusic.com/PicPages/Linkto-2_files/IMG_0080....

Demolition Day....
Well, it started innocent enough...... some light sanding on the cabin top. Since it was raining I couldn't paint so I went below. There was a plywood and vinyl "ceiling" that really didn't do much. Plus the dynamic PO duo (DPD) had put some screws in there that protruded through the cabin...

Everything back on the trailer! Now for the deck and cabin. Leaky windows, all sorts of severely outdated electronics with corroded connections, multiple layers of peeling/flaking paint = strip 'er down, fill the holes and start over...... http://www.woodenshoemusic.com/PicPages/Linkto_files/IMG_006...

Here we go, two clean layers of paint. (Not an anti fouling as it will be trailer sailed).......A buff and wax on the topsides and all of it back on the trailer. Power wash for the deck, and on to the mast raising system. (Done in my head, can't wait to put it in practice....) http://www.woodenshoem...

On my mono (42' Catalina) I had the same problem with the swept back spreaders. Especially on larger water with a good seaway the main would back fill and then slap as it flopped the other way. Finally got tired of it and started dropping it down wind. No barber haul, but a big pole to get the genoa...

Reference alignment...... Some people advocate doing an alignment every year, especially if the boat is on the hard in winter. Re-launch, wait for a week to let the boat shape settle down and align...... 4/1000 tolerance. Dial indicators for runout. Vibration is something that creeps up on you. A li...

I'd be very skeptical that there could be enough water weight (to cause this) in the small voids between foam core blocks Chainsaw math........ To get the stern to squat that much would take.....say 4 people in the cockpit? 4x180 pounds....= 720 pounds= (62 pounds per cubic foot) 11 cubic feet.... ...

I've dealt with moorings on a mono, but not with a dink as an in between step. As an initial thought I would look for a way to get the dink off the mooring FIRST and behind the boat and THEN get the boat on the mooring without the clutter of the dink. So, a longer line on the dink with a snap hook i...

Yea, I'd be looking for water.... Or stuff..... You'd be amazed. The short version of the story is that I took EVERYTHING off a 25' mono and weighed it..... over 650 pounds..... it adds up. Just for giggles, take everything off the boat and see what happens. After that, start looking for water. 40 g...

I have.... in 95º weather and 120º in the engine room it took me 6 hours to get the coupling off...... Depending on how old, how much corrosion etc etc it can be a bear. I also have the alternator but it doesn't seem safe to use with a deep cycle battery so I never hooked it up.
