Just try it again. It is a bit tricky, but you will fix it. I had also to learn it.

Hello Christine, fixing the mastfoot with four screws in the deck is correct. It is a kind of predetermined breaking point when the mast comes down unplanned. Otherwise it would destroy the deck.
