Windvane self steering

Hi
Has anybody made a wind controlled self steering for a DF?
I got an Autohelm - but it reboots now and then - been thinking on a simpler, more reliably system - why not a simple mechanichal windvane?
On a DF800 there is plenty of space around the rudder - so is there any ideas or experience?
