Winter project? - Rain cover for cabin entrance
Posted: Sat 06 Aug 16, 15:31
Sails in archipelago, and we have occasional rains. Don’t like to get it wet in cabin and the regular door is a bit awkward to use when sailing. Have tried to sail with spray-hood up, but it cuts too much of the view (of other boats, islands etc.) So this year I made a simple roll-up rain cover for the cabin entrance.
- A round piece of wood
- Two screws
- Two pieces of soft metal
- Sturdy plastic – here is it sold as construction cover
- Staples
Cut the stick in size to fit in entrance, screw the metal to the ends. Bend the metal so the stick will hang free and can rotate. Cut plastic in shape – staple it to the round stick.
